How it is calculated
The position size is margin × leverage. The profit or loss is the price change on that full size; fees are charged on the position value at entry and at exit.
P/L = (exit − entry) × quantity (short: entry − exit)Fees = fee % × (entry value + exit value)ROE = net P/L ÷ margin
ROE looks large with high leverage, but the dollar result depends only on the position size and the price move.
Worked example
A long from 60,000.00 to 63,000.00 with 100.00 USDT margin at 10x is a 1,000.00 USDT position. The price moves +5.00% and the net result after fees is +48.98 USDT, a +48.98% return on margin.
Frequently asked questions
What is ROE?
Return on equity: the profit or loss divided by the margin you put in. With 10x leverage, a 1% price move is about a 10% ROE before fees.
Why is my profit lower than expected?
Fees are charged on the full leveraged position on both entry and exit, and funding payments may apply while the position is open. This calculator includes trading fees but not funding.
What does "liquidated before exit" mean?
If the exit price is beyond the liquidation price, the position would have been closed by liquidation first and you would lose the whole margin.
Long or short: is the calculation the same?
Yes, with the sign reversed: a long earns when the price rises, a short earns when it falls.
Let TradeLabX do this on every trade
Before you open a position, TradeLabX checks your entry, stop and leverage against real price history and warns you if the liquidation risk is high. It also scans the futures market for setups with entry, stop and target, and lets you test them on a virtual account.
